I’d like to start off by thanking my good friend Hustler for cutting me a little bit of slack about my lack of posts since I came home for the summer due to my 56k modem. Never fear thanks to my wonderful internship at WGAM 900 the Game, I have access to high speed Internet and that means an update every Friday night or Saturday morning.
So a lot has happened in the world of sports since my last entry. The World Cup is underway and with no surprise to me the U.S. is no longer in contention. I want to say two things about this, Soccer is an international game not an American game and to all the sports writers and commentators calling for the rules to change so that it can favor the American team I say, “Shame!” If you can find a majority of the people in this nation that actually care about Soccer during times that are not consumed by the World Cup, then we will talk. Second, Soccer to me is a joke; no one cares about the MLS and if someone reading this can tell me at least three MLS players besides Cobi Jones and Freddy Adu, I will watch one MLS game next season.
The Red Sox are currently on a 12 game winning streak and a Major League record tying 16 game streak without an error, and the Sox look to continue both against the Florida Marlins tonight in what I see as a non baseball town of Miami. I’m very excited about this Red Sox team; I think at this point they might be better than my beloved World Champion Red Sox of 2004 (that never gets old). The only problem with this is the AL Central is a lot stronger with Detroit and Chicago, and I don’t think that another second place finish in the AL East will suffice. Luckily in the present day the Yankees are injury plagued, and currently sit four games out of first. My mother, probably the biggest Red Sox fan this year, a few nights ago during a rout of Pedro Martinez’s NY Mets asked me if I wanted to fly home for the World Series victory parade this year. I quickly shot her down saying it was a long season and not to get ahead of herself. Though one cannot argue with the way things are going for this team right now another World Series appearance and victory seems very likely.
I mentioned earlier in this post about my new internship at WGAM 900 the Game, that’s right I am Joe, “the Intern” manning the phones and keeping the guys, Mike and Pete up to date on all that is New England sports. Sounds like this is the perfect job for me since all I do is write about sports in New England. So in the future I will have Bill Simmons-esque running diaries of my day at WGAM 900, so sorry for the wait between posts and I hope you enjoy reading the posts to follow.

I noticed in your profile that you registered a second site. I am pretty excited. Plus the title is catchy.
